Why this car matters

Pre-war Frazer Nash cars used a unique chain-drive transmission rather than a conventional gearbox, with separate dog clutches for each ratio. Models including the TT Replica and Le Mans Replica were built in tiny numbers — typically powered by Meadows, Anzani, Gough or Blackburne engines of 1.5 to 2 litres — and proved formidable in 1930s trials, road races and at Le Mans. Total pre-war production across all chain-drive Frazer Nash models is around 350 cars.
