Duesenberg

Duesenberg was the summit of E.L. Cord's empire and of American motoring itself: the Model J of 1928, with its 265-horsepower straight-eight, was conceived to be the grandest car in the world and largely succeeded, clothed by the finest coachbuilders for Hollywood royalty and actual royalty alike. The supercharged SJ pushed on to 320 horsepower in an era when most cars managed a tenth of that. Production ended with the empire's 1937 collapse at around 480 Model Js — and they have never left the very top table of the collector world, where 'it's a Duesy' entered the language for a reason.
