Alpine

Founded in Dieppe in 1955 by Jean Rédélé, a Renault dealer and successful rally driver, Alpine spent two decades turning humble Renault mechanicals into rear-engined fibreglass sports cars of exceptional pace. Its A110 Berlinette carried the marque to the French Rally Championship in 1968 and 1969, the European Rally Championship in 1970, and the inaugural World Rally Championship in 1973 — the first ever WRC manufacturers' title. Absorbed into Renault in 1973, Alpine returned as Renault's sports-car arm from 2017 with the modern A110, while the Dieppe-built Berlinettes remain France's most collectable rally cars.
