Lexus was conceived to beat the German establishment at its own game, and the original LS 400 of 1989 did precisely that — but its collector significance rests on a single extraordinary car: the LFA of 2010–12, a 500-unit carbon-fibre supercar whose 4.8-litre V10, developed with Yamaha, revs with a sound widely considered the finest of the modern era.
