The 1959 Mini was the most influential British car ever made — Alec Issigonis's transverse-engined, front-drive packaging revolution that fit four adults in ten feet of car and taught the entire industry how to build small cars. The Cooper versions added giant-killing: three Monte Carlo Rally wins in the 1960s made the Mini a motorsport legend, and genuine Cooper S examples now command serious money. Production of the original ran until 2000; BMW's modern MINI has carried the name since, while the classic car's blend of usability, tunability and charm keeps it among the most beloved collectables at any price point.
