Land Rover
Land Rover was born at the 1948 Amsterdam Motor Show with a spartan, aluminium-bodied 4x4 designed by Maurice Wilks — a rough-tool utility that founded a bloodline unrivalled for capability and cultural reach. The Series I, II and III served every continent through half a century of expedition, farming and military use; in 1970 the original Range Rover, by Spen King, Bashford and Bache, effectively invented the luxury 4x4 and stayed in production for twenty-six years. The reborn Defender arrived in 2020, but for collectors the market is emphatic: the earliest Series I 80-inch cars and the first two-door Range Rover Classics are recognised icons, appreciating steadily as the world rediscovers what made Solihull's original 4x4s special.
