Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026: The Collector's Debrief

The 2026 Festival of Speed, the event's 33rd running, took place from 9 – 12 July under the theme "The Rivals – Epic Racing Duels," marking 60 years since Ford and Ferrari's Le Mans battles and 50 years since the Hunt–Lauda title fight of 1976.

The Timed Shoot-Out delivered a historic result. Romain Dumas won in the Ford Super Mustang Mach-E with a run of 41.97 seconds — his fifth career Shoot-Out victory and Ford's third in succession, each achieved with a different machine. Dan Ticktum placed second in a prototype of the Gen4 Formula E car, making this the first Festival at which electric cars claimed both top positions. Alex Summers' 1974 Shadow-Chevrolet DN4 was third and the fastest combustion-engined entrant. The outright hill record — the McMurtry Spéirling's 39.08 seconds from 2022 — still stands.

For collectors, the debut list was the real story. McLaren unveiled the 788HS, a 200-unit run split between coupé and Spider and billed as the final send-off for its non-hybrid V8 Super Series line. The Red Bull RB17 made its dynamic debut on the hill, with Adrian Newey among its drivers. Gordon Murray Automotive ran the five-car S1 LM alongside the T.33 Spider, Pagani presented the open-top Huayra 70 Derecho, and McMurtry showed the Spéirling Pure, the production version of its record-holding fan car. Singer headlined the Central Feature in its eleventh consecutive Goodwood appearance — a telling marker of where the restomod movement now sits in the collector hierarchy.

Elsewhere, Damon Hill marked 30 years since his 1996 World Championship with runs in his title-winning Williams FW18, and Ducati celebrated its centenary. The 2027 Festival is confirmed for 15 – 18 July.
