Carrozzeria Nova Rinascente (Dino Cognolato)
Coachbuilding house
Aluminium coachwork and complete restoration of high-value historic cars under Dino Cognolato, referred to in the Italian trade simply as a maestro restauratore, with a department dedicated to competition cars including current Ferrari GT machinery. The distinguishing capability is reverse engineering: an existing car is three-dimensionally scanned and a clean CAD surface reconstructed from it — deliberately correcting the asymmetries and ripples of the real car — from which jigs are made and the sheet metal formed. For a car whose original drawings are lost, that is the only route to a correct body. The reference work is a 1948 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport Coupé, returned to concours condition over two years and Best in Show at the 2018 Zoute Concours d'Elegance.
