The world centre for Mercedes-Benz originality, opened at Fellbach in May 1993 and part of the brand's heritage arm, Mercedes-Benz Heritage GmbH. The decisive advantage is documentary: Mercedes-Benz is one of very few manufacturers to have retained all its original design and engineering drawings back to the late pre-war era, so genuine parts can be supplied from stock or manufactured to order from the original plans. Factory-trained specialists handle full and partial restoration, servicing, genuine parts, collection care, sales and brokerage, and expert reports authenticating a vehicle's originality. In 2024 the operation absorbed the staff, 40,000-part inventory and tooling of Kienle Automobiltechnik, materially enlarging the Fellbach parts pool. A second centre has operated at Irvine, California since June 2006 — the same organisation, serving North America.
