Manufacturer that restores
A recognised manufacturer with its own VIN — and still a restoration and service house for customer cars. Alois Ruf Sr. founded Auto Ruf as a village garage in 1939; his son Alois Jr. began servicing and restoring Porsches there in 1960, and the CTR of 1987 — the Yellowbird — became the fastest production car in the world at 339 km/h. Most CTRs were converted from customer cars, which remains the company's founding logic: full restorations and all service work are carried out at Pfaffenhausen alongside the famous conversions of classic Porsche chassis cars and the modern SCR and Tribute built on RUF's own carbon monocoque. Alois and Estonia Ruf run the business.
