Kimera K39

The restomod house goes clean-sheet — with a Koenigsegg V8 and a manual gearbox.

Car Collector International Editorial

Overview

Why this car matters

The Kimera K39 is Kimera Automobili's first ground-up car — a departure from the Lancia-based Evo37 and Evo38 restomods. Where those two cars were built on a rebuilt Lancia Beta Montecarlo cell, the K39 is a clean-sheet supercar with a bespoke carbon monocoque, Dallara-assisted aerodynamics and pop-up headlights.

At the heart of the car sits a Koenigsegg twin-turbo V8 — the first engine Koenigsegg has supplied to a third party — producing approximately 1,000 hp and paired with a seven-speed manual driving the rear wheels. Pricing is quoted at approximately €2.3M. The K39 debuted at Villa d'Este in May 2026 with a category win; no customer deliveries have been made and no secondary market exists.

The K39 marks a significant escalation for Kimera — from Lancia-tribute restomods into a clean-sheet supercar that leans on Koenigsegg engineering. It also marks a genuinely new commercial relationship for Koenigsegg, whose engines have never before appeared in another manufacturer's car. Small volume, Villa d'Este debut and manual-gearbox specification position the K39 as a distinct proposition alongside the Evo37 / Evo38.

Buyer's Guide

What to look for

Provenance — factory allocation and delivery status

The K39 is a brand-new, ground-up Kimera — NOT a Lancia restomod like the Evo37 / Evo38. For the K39 specifically, verify allocation, VIN and specification against the Kimera Automobili factory build book — deliveries have not yet begun and every commitment is with the factory directly. Confirm allocation, VIN, colour and specification directly against the Kimera Automobili factory build book before any transaction; the programme is early and no customer deliveries have yet been made.

Bespoke carbon monocoque and Dallara-assisted aero

The K39 uses a bespoke carbon monocoque with pop-up headlights and Dallara-assisted aerodynamics. Any structural work must be documented at the factory; the small production number and clean-sheet status mean any repair history is material to value.

Koenigsegg-supplied twin-turbo V8 drivetrain

The K39 is the first car outside Koenigsegg's own range to use a Koenigsegg-supplied twin-turbo V8 (~1,000 hp) paired with a seven-speed manual, RWD. Any service or driveline work will need Koenigsegg-authorised specialist support alongside Kimera; verify the powertrain reconciliation between the two factories.

Distinct from the Evo37 / Evo38

Buyers should be clear that the K39 is not a Lancia-based restomod. The Evo37 (RWD, ~505 hp, ~€480k) and Evo38 (4WD, ~600 hp, ~€880k) are the Beta-Montecarlo-cell restomods. The K39 is a clean-sheet ~€2.3M supercar with a Koenigsegg V8 and a manual gearbox — a materially different collector proposition.

Factory-only servicing

All service and any drivetrain work must be through the factory or an authorised specialist. Independent supercar shops are not equipped for bespoke carbon monocoques, bespoke gearboxes or manufacturer-specific engine management.

Parts and reconciliation

Panels, drivetrain hardware and chassis components are factory-specific and produced in a single limited run. Insist on continuous factory service history and reconcile all work against the factory portal.

Investment

Long-term outlook

SpeculativeHorizon: 5–10 years

Clean-sheet supercar from an emerging low-volume manufacturer, backed by a first-of-kind Koenigsegg engine supply relationship and a manual gearbox. Small production and Villa d'Este debut provide a defensible narrative; long-term collectability depends on how the delivered cars are received and how Kimera's factory support and community mature around a non-restomod product.
