Overview

Why this car matters

Switzerland's grand tourer family, built in Basel: the Pietro Frua-designed 375 S launched at Frankfurt 1967 on a Stahlbau square-tube chassis with De Dion rear and Girling discs, powered by the Chrysler 7.2L 440 V8 (375 bhp SAE).

Bodywork moved to Carrozzeria Fissore from 1969 after the Frua royalty dispute — one stretched Frua 2+2 later became the one-off AC 428 coupé. A one-off Palm Beach also sits in the family history.

Switzerland's ambitious grand tourer family and a rare Anglo-Swiss-Italian-American GT — Chrysler power under Frua and Fissore coachwork. Provenance and body variant are the defining factors.

Buyer's Guide

What to look for

Chassis identity and body variant

Confirm chassis identity and body variant — 375 S (2-seater), 375 L (2+2, the volume model), 375 C (convertible), 375/4 (saloon) or Berlinetta (7.0 Hemi) — against a Monteverdi marque specialist. For the High Speed 375 specifically, verify the exact variant (375 S / L / C / /4 / Berlinetta), the coachbuilder (Frua or Fissore) and engine specification against build records and a marque specialist. Note the production conflict as a Verify flag.

Coachbuilder — Frua vs Fissore

Verify the coachbuilder — early cars were bodied by Pietro Frua, with bodywork moving to Carrozzeria Fissore from 1969 after the Frua royalty dispute. Confirm body originality and restoration standard against a marque specialist.

Chrysler 440 V8 and driveline

Confirm engine identity, gearbox service and any rebuild history for the Chrysler 7.2L 440 V8 (or 426 Hemi in the Berlinetta) against an appropriate specialist.

Provenance and ownership history

Restoration standard, originality of body and driveline, and any documented ownership record are the main value drivers.
