Provenance — factory RUF vs RUF-converted
The single most important question on any RUF is provenance. Cars built from a bare Porsche shell at Pfaffenhausen carry a RUF VIN (WO9…) and are treated as separate manufacturer vehicles; customer 911s converted at RUF retain their Porsche VIN. Both are legitimate — but they are not equivalent in the market. Demand the factory build documentation, RUF certificate and full history file. For the BTR specifically, confirm factory RUF VIN, narrow-body 911/930 base and RUF gearbox against the build file. The BTR predates the CTR Yellowbird and should not be confused with either the CTR or the later 993-era BTR2.
