Overview

Why this car matters

The halo of the C190 AMG GT range: an M178-derived hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft — the most powerful AMG V8 production engine at launch — producing 730 PS / 720 hp and 800 Nm / 590 lb-ft with boost raised to 24.6 psi; 7-speed dual-clutch, rear-wheel drive; 0–100 km/h 3.2 s (0–60 mph 3.1 s US figure); 325 km/h / 202 mph.

Body, aero and chassis are derived from the AMG GT3 race car: manually adjustable carbon front splitter, carbon bonnet with air outlets, carbon roof, adjustable two-tier rear wing, adjustable coilovers and anti-roll bars, nine-stage traction control and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 MO tyres as standard. In November 2020, driven by Maro Engel, the Black Series set the Nürburgring Nordschleife production-car lap record at 6:43.616 (without T13 straight) / 6:48.047 (full lap) — a record at the time, later beaten by the AMG One in 2022. US MSRP $325,000; AMG Magmabeam orange was the launch colour exclusive to the model. Production: no factory-published cap has been announced; a P One Edition special exists.
