Aston Martin DB12

The DB11 successor — a 671 bhp / 680 PS twin-turbo V8 super-tourer and the first Aston to wear the brand's new winged logo.

Overview

Why this car matters

The DB12 replaces the DB11 as Aston Martin's core front-engined V8 grand tourer. Unveiled on 24 May 2023 at the Cannes Film Festival with first deliveries in Q3 2023, the DB12 is Aston's marketed 'world's first Super Tourer' — the maker's own framing, not fact — and is the first Aston Martin to wear the brand's new winged logo.

Under the bonnet sits the Mercedes-AMG M177 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, hand-built and rated at 680 PS / 671 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 800 Nm / 590 lb ft between 2,750 and 6,000 rpm — a 34% power increase over the outgoing DB11. Drive is through a rear-mounted ZF 8HP75 eight-speed automatic. Top speed is 202 mph, 0–60 mph in 3.5 sec, 0–62 mph in 3.6 sec. Approximately 80% of components are new: the grille is 54% larger with a 56% increase in frontal aperture area. It is the first time carbon-ceramic brakes have been offered across Aston's core GT models — 400 mm front, 360 mm rear, saving 27 kg of unsprung mass — and the car debuted the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S, developed bespoke with Michelin. The DB12 Volante followed in August 2023. The DB12 S was revealed on 8 October 2025 at approximately 690 bhp, billed as the brand's fastest four-seater (Verify — notes only). Launch price was approximately $245,000 (Verify).

The DB12 is the reset of the modern front-engined V8 Aston GT. Roughly 80% new components against the outgoing DB11, factory-fitted carbon-ceramic brakes across the core GT range for the first time, and a 34% power increase from the AMG twin-turbo V8 together represent the biggest single-generation move Aston has made in this segment since the VH platform. It is also the first Aston to wear the brand's new winged logo — a marque milestone in its own right — and its Volante convertible followed within months of launch.

Buyer's Guide

What to look for

Provenance — factory paperwork and service history

Modern Aston Martins live and die on continuous factory service history and dealer-network paperwork. For the DB12 specifically, confirm the specification of the carbon-ceramic brake package (a factory-only replacement item), Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tyre wear, and full authorised-dealer service history — this is a current-production car and continuous dealer paperwork is a material value line. Confirm chassis number, delivery specification, options and full service book against the authorised dealer portal before pricing.

Drivetrain — V12 or AMG twin-turbo V8

The hand-built 5,935cc V12 (DBS V12) is a specialist service item; the Mercedes-AMG M177 4.0 twin-turbo V8 (DB12 and Vantage 2018+) is robust but must be maintained at an authorised dealer for warranty and value continuity. Cold-start behaviour, boost signature and any campaign history are the primary purchase-time diagnostics.

Chassis and body — bonded aluminium and carbon-ceramic brakes

VH-platform (DBS V12) and DB11-derived bonded-aluminium chassis (DB12, Vantage 2018+) require authorised body-shop repair; non-factory bonded-aluminium work is priced against that history. Carbon-ceramic brake systems are a factory-only replacement item.

Options, packages and specification

Specification drives value in the modern-Aston market. Carbon-ceramic brakes, lightweight packages, popular colour and trim combinations, and factory-fitted rare options are the material spec-side signals; confirm every claim against the delivery documents.

Factory / authorised-dealer servicing

Modern Aston Martin drivetrains — hand-built V12 (DBS V12) and Mercedes-AMG M177 twin-turbo V8 (DB12 and Vantage 2018+) — should be serviced through the authorised dealer network. Continuous factory service history is a material value driver.

Carbon-ceramic brakes and electronics

Carbon-ceramic brake systems are standard on DBS V12 and optional on Vantage / DB12; replacement is a factory-only exercise. Verify state of the electronic package, infotainment revisions and any recall / campaign history at the dealer service portal before purchase.

Long-term outlook

EmergingHorizon: 5–10 years

As the DB11 successor, the DB12 is the current core front-engined V8 Aston GT. First deliveries began Q3 2023 and the model is still in current production; continuous factory service history, popular specification and factory carbon-ceramic brake option will separate the most collectible cars from the merely modern over time.
