The Rapide is Aston Martin's first series-production four-door since the Lagonda, designed by Marek Reichman on the DB9-derived VH platform and billed as the first production four-door sports car; front-mid-mounted V12, rear-wheel drive, five-door liftback body with swan-wing doors. Assembled by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria (2010–2012), then at Gaydon (2012–2020).
The launch Rapide (2010–2013) used the 5.9-litre AM11 V12, 470 bhp, six-speed Touchtronic II automatic, 188 mph, 0–60 mph 5.1 s. The Rapide S (2013 on) raised output to 550 bhp then 552–560 bhp, gaining the eight-speed Touchtronic III from 2014; the final Rapide AMR (2018–2020) produced 595 bhp, 205 mph, 4.2 s 0–62 mph. An all-electric Rapide E was announced but built only in tiny prototype numbers. Kerb weight approximately 1,950–1,990 kg.
The 210-car Rapide AMR is the collectible of the range and trades clear of standard cars; early Rapides are a value entry to V12 Aston ownership; service history and gearbox health drive the standard-car market.
